Sian Roza

Our beloved student, Sian Roza passed away with her younger brother in February 2021. They were scavenging for plastic rubbish near a lake in Phnom Penh. Sian's brother fell in and she tried to save him. Neither of them survived. Sian was a pupil of the Ray of Light Cambodia school and was looking forward to a bright future. We are working with the family and hope that her older sister Liza will be able to continue to attend school. The life of a scavenger (whether child or adult) is a precarious one. Thank you all for your support so that we can continue to help children get an education and break the cycle of poverty that leads them to be in such dangerous situations. Our hearts go out to Sian Roza's family and all those children who live such perilous lives.

If you would like to donate some money to help Sian Roza's family during this difficult time please click the donate button below. The money will go towards helping the family with day to day costs and helping her sister, Liza, stay in school. Liza makes between $1.50 and $2 a day as a scavenger, which her and her mother rely on, so our aim is to cover this. Therefore, she does not have to spend her day collecting rubbish and focus on getting an education and breaking the cycle of poverty.
